Walk-in stollen packaging, Dresden
Walk-in XXL Christmas stollen at Dresden's Hauptbahnhof railway station
For the 2015 festive season, Dresden's Hauptbahnhof station provided the backdrop for some outsize product packaging in the form of an XXL walk-in stollen carton. At 6 x 3 m, it certainly turned a few heads among the Christmas crowds.
For the construction of this transportable and re-usable cuboid structure, PPS. Imaging used aluminium profiles. To complete the illusion, 125m² of fabric print (Dialight Blockout) was bordered with Keder strip.
Inside the installation, visitors could watch a slideshow and browse recipes with information about the origins of Dresden stollen. Particularly noteworthy were the door cutouts, the 'ingredient shapes' on the material covering both inside and outside, and the manual on-site production of the shapes (the Keder strip was added at the last moment in situ, as pre-assembly was not feasible).
The walk-in stollen carton has proved to be a successful pilot project that will now be rolled out across Germany during the festive season.
